12 September - 12 September 2019
We are excited to be joining Cyrenians for a dinner with chefs from Edinburgh’s refugee community. As they say in Syria, “the food will be so delicious you’ll eat your fingers by mistake”.
A sample of what will be on the menu:
– Baba Ganoush, a roasted aubergine dish
– Vegetarian and meat kubbeh
– Beetroot Moutabal
– Fattoush, a crispy flatbread and vegetable salad
– Yalanji – stuffed vine leaves
– Beef Kebab Hindi
– Lamb Mansaf
– Chicken Shwarma
– Vegetarian Maqluba, a showstopping rice dish
– Halawet al Jibn, a delicious sweet pastry
– Syrian Baklava
There will be plenty of vegetarian/vegan options but please let us know of any dietary preferences or allergies.
Dinner will be served at 8pm but guests are welcome to come and watch the chefs in action and help prepare the dishes from 7pm.
Buying tickets for this event is a great way of supporting recently-arrived refugees who are keen to pursue careers in the food industry. All chefs will be paid for the time they spend preparing for the supper club.
This supper club is part of Cyrenians’ social enterprise programme, raising funds to support the work we do changing lives through food – including classes on eating healthily on a budget and a network of community cook clubs.
Tickets are £30 which will all go towards Cyrenians.
In order to buy a ticket you will have to use a password which is “JCIsupper”
