Up next in JCI Scotland’s Speak with Confidence series is a balloon debate, hosted by JCI Aberdeen!

A balloon debate features a number of different speakers/debaters attempt to win the approval of an audience. Each speak will be invited to argue the case for their given topic/idea with the audience then invited to imagine that the speakers are flying in a hot-air balloon which is sinking, and only one person can be saved in each round.

Each speaker has to make the case for why they should not be thrown out of the balloon. This is a fun, light-hearted debate and is for everyone to take part, champion debater or complete novice…all are welcome! The winning argument will be revealed at the end, and this will be the person who is safe from the sinking balloon.

The topic will be unveiled at the event and each participant will have 2 minutes to prepare their argument and then a further two minutes to present their argument to the audience. The more light-hearted and comedic the performance, the better!
